Somalia:Police commander in Mogadishu

Somalia’s government chief police commander in
Banadir province has been killed on Wednesday in renewed
fighting between the government forces and fighters
loyal to the allied Islamist insurgents of Al-Shabab and
Hizbul Islam.
Ali Saed Sheik Hassan has been hit by several bullets
fired from the rebel side and died on the spot,
according to the sources of the military officers at the
frontline.

The latest fighting occurred in Hodan
neighbourhood, south of the capital where the rival
sides exchanged heavy artillery weapons.
Officials of the ongoing war accused each other of
starting the fighting.
The African Union peace keeping troops are involving the
battle as they continue shelling at the main Bakara
market where it is believed to be the base of the rebel
groups.
Elsewhere, the Islamist hardliners Al-Shabab is reported
to have captured Keysaney hospital in the eastern
outskirt of the capital after the government troops
vacated the area.
Dozen people mostly civilians have been killed and
scores more injured in the last two-day fighting outside
of the capital.
