Somalia:Somali Authority remarks capturing of Luuq district

The Director of information of the Somali presidential palace Mr. Abdukadir Mohammed Osman, has told the press that soldiers of the Somali government commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Mohamud Osman Weli have taken control of Luuq district in Gedo region in southern Somalia late last night.

“Overnight the Somali government soldiers have seized Luuq district in Gedo region, the district is very strategic, and will play a significant role in conquering of Bay, Bakool, the lower sahbelle regions and the entire of Somalia which are yet administered by the Islamists, the majority of the Somali soldiers who are overpowering the Islamists in this Gedo region are the youngsters who hail from the very region (Gedo), and have undergone 4 months of military trainings at Abore and Dhusay locations which are both in Gedo region, these youths have absolute confidence on the population on the ground, and they were affectionately welcomed by the residents of Luuq district” said Abukar Mohammed Osman the director of information of the presidential palace.

On the other hand the lieutenant Colonel commanding the government soldiers who have taken control Luuq district has urged the residents of the town to feel free and carryon their daily activities as usual.
