News English  13/April/2008  Waagacusub.com

In a mass operation carried out by Somali government soldiers in the southern commercial town of Baidoa 250km west of the Somali capital Mogadishu, the government soldiers have arrested several civilians who they said are suspected of creating instability in the town.

The head of the security department in Bay region was asked what is the reason behind this swift security operation in the region, but he diverted the answer to the question asked in mute system.

Independent reports say that the government soldiers arrested number of civilians within the town and drove them to the town central cell.

Baidoa is the temporary base of the Transitional Federal Government since their departure from the Kenyan capital Nairobi in 2005.

In the past few weeks there had been frequent attacks against government officers, Ethiopian soldiers, and the regional administration of Bay.

It is not the first time for ordinary civilians to be arrested in an operation in the region.
